Dr Eva-Marie Muller-Stuler is an internationally recognised AI leader, mathematician and technology executive with more than 25 years of experience spanning mathematical research, financial modelling, data science, enterprise AI and executive leadership.

She is the Founder and CEO of The Hummingbird Group, where she works with governments, boards and organisations to turn AI ambition into operational capability. Her work spans enterprise AI strategy, Chief AI Officer and operating models, AI Centres of Excellence, responsible AI and governance, production readiness, Generative AI and agentic AI.

Her work focuses particularly on consequential AI: systems whose outputs materially affect people, organisations, public services, customers or capital. She advocates for an approach in which AI is evaluated not simply by model performance, but by whether the wider decision system — including data, technology, people, governance and economics — is fit for the consequence attached to the decision.

Previously, Dr Muller-Stuler served as MEA CTO for AI and Chief Data Scientist at IBM, where she built and scaled AI capability, led complex production AI programmes and contributed to IBM’s global AI strategy and offerings. She subsequently led Data & AI for EY across MENA, transforming and scaling the regional practice while advising governments and major enterprises on AI, data strategy and governance.

A mathematician by training, she studied at the Technical University of Munich, conducted mathematical research in Japan, and completed a doctorate applying mathematical optimisation and machine-learning methods to medical physics. Her career has since connected deep technical expertise with commercial strategy, organisational transformation and executive decision-making.

Dr Muller-Stuler serves as Treasurer and Independent Director of The Future Society, an independent nonprofit advancing the governance and safety of artificial intelligence. The organisation contributes research and policy expertise to international and governmental AI-governance processes, including United Nations initiatives, the EU AI Act and its General-Purpose AI Code of Practice, as well as national and multilateral efforts to develop effective AI policy, safety and governance frameworks.

Alongside her executive and board work, Dr Muller-Stuler contributes to the international development of responsible AI through advisory work, research, teaching, writing and speaking.
