AI for Good Global Summit 2019
May 28-31, 2019
The Future Society was a partner of The AI for Good Global Summit 2019, held in Geneva, Switzerland on May 28-31 and hosted by ITU, XPRIZE and UN Agencies.
The Future Society took on the role of Ethics Rapporteurs across the five Breakthrough Tracks of the Summit: Education & Learning; Good Health & Well-Being; AI, Human Dignity & Inclusive Societies; Scaling AI for Good; and AI for Space. Team members participated in these tracks and analyzed the ethics discussions in a presentation delivered by Senior AI Policy Researcher Yolanda Lannquist on the last day of the Summit.
The Future Society also hosted the 2nd international Global Data Commons (GDC) workshop on May 31st. Cyrus Hodes co-hosted the workshop with Robert Kirkpatrick, Director of UN Global Pulse. The Global Data Commons workshop brought together a diverse group of 30 experts and practitioners from international organizations (including ITU Telecom World, UNESCO, OECD, The World Bank, UNEP, United Nations High Level Panel on Digital Cooperation), industry, start-ups, academia (including IRD), and civil society organizations (including IEEE). This second workshop built upon the first one organized as part of the ‘Global Governance of AI Forum’ held during the World Government Summit and the proposed 3-year roadmap and associated framework.
