Getting the next ten years right means setting the pathways and frameworks for AI’s benefits to be distributed fairly and widely. It means ensuring AI doesn’t widen the global divide but rather allows for all regions across the world to get a fair chance to reap its opportunities and protect against its risks.

On June 8th, The Future Society hosted a timely conversation at the global platform CogX, bringing together over 60 participants from all walks of lively to discuss the ‘AI Divide.’

Nicolas Miailhe and TFS Advisor Professor Edson Prestes unpacked AI’s role in the Global South and had a candid discussion on the threat of AI colonialism, the emerging AI divide, and how the Global North and Global South can build meaningful partnerships for the responsible adoption of AI worldwide.

The conversation drew upon The Future Society’s experience shaping AI policy in the developing world and Professor Prestes’ work shaping emerging technology standards in South America and globally.
